Kidney Stones...

As many of you know I have been struggling with kidney stone issues for 2 months. I found out January 13th I had a kidney stone when I wound up in excruciating pain. I went to the hospital and was told immediately that it was a stone. After tests I found out it was a 6 mm stone. I've been to the urologist and am going back again next week. After seeing my GP today and being told from the notes she received I have 2 more that haven't dropped yet. A 5 mm on my left side and a 3 mm on my right side. For those of you that have never experienced a kidney stone before, all I can say is it is the most excruciating pain I have ever felt. It's worse than child birth. Imagine back labor but for 3-4 days. That was this stone.

I highly recommend doing everything in your power to avoid your body having them.

  • Stay hydrated. I can't say that enough. Drink lots of water. I've been drinking cranberry juice and lemonade like it's going out of style.
  • Avoid sugary drinks like pop
  • Avoid sweets as much as possible
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Avoid salt
Those are just some of the things you can do.  Staying hydrated is the #1 thing you can do.
